Gay marriage has been a reality in Spain since last month, and the gay weddings market has been expanding across the country as a result. Now though gay marketing there is getting an even bigger push as a result of a new court ruling last week by Spanish law courts.
Spain's marriage laws now allow gay and lesbian couples to marry so long as one of the partners is a Spanish national.
Spanish courts expand access to gay marriage.
Previously there had been some debate about whether gay marriage laws passed by Spain earlier this year would allow gay foreign nationals to marry in a Spanish gay wedding ceremony as the laws of the home country of the foreign partner would most likely not recognise the Spanish gay marriage as legal. That would have meant that only nationals of the Netherlands and Belgium could have legally married in a gay wedding in Spain.
Last week however the gay marriage market was expanded significantly in Spain when a Spanish court ruled that...non Spanish citizens could legally marry in Spain in gay weddings ceremonies now taking place around the country.
Even if some countries do not recognise the legal rights conferred by these gay marriage weddings in Spain, the Spanish courts decided their laws will confer rights upon the non Spanish person as a result of their gay marriage to a Spanish citizen.
The gay weddings and gay marriage market is increasing demand for a whole range of new gay marketing services including hair and make up, gay marriage photography, limousine car hire services, as well as gay wedding receptions and the lesbian and gay honeymoon and lesbian and gay travel market are all expanding in value as a result of an increasing number of countries legislating to recognise gay marriage.
The gay marketing implications of this are only just beginning and the value of the gay weddings market will increase steadily in coming months and years. The UK will see Civil Partnerships legislation become reality at the end of this year and last month Canada legislated in favour of gay marriage in that country.
Definitely a growing gay marketing and lesbian and gay market trend to track.
