Gay Times, Europe's most read gay market media product, is set to be relaunched as GT. In two week's time the old Gay Times masthead will be no more.

This is part of a modernising evolution for this market leading gay title, and one of Out Now's gay media clients.

The market research undertaken by GT has shown that the target consumer has, for some years, taken to referring to Gay Times by the abbreviated 'GT' - and, like Lesbians On The Loose in Australia before them which is now branded 'LOTL' - has seen fit to adopt the new 'GT' branding.

Being in line with the market's existing preference for the name of the title, this will likely strengthen and favourably reinforce brand recall in the gay media market in target consumer's minds.

There is also set to be a freshened approach to the editorial content and layout, as GT seeks to strengthen its dominant position in the UK gay media market.

GT's nearest lifestyle competitor, Attitude magazine, has seen a period of uncertainty and the January 2007 issue of Attitude failed to appear, however a February issue is now on sale in the UK.

“Embracing our nickname allows the cover to reflect the myriad of exciting changes inside the magazine," says Editor Joseph Galliano. "GT will take centre stage and define the agenda for the modern gay man. The title’s evolution represents one of the most exciting times in the magazine’s long, prestigious history.”
