If you find yourself in New York City today, hop over to the Virgin Megastore down on Union Square.

Since NY City dropped the NY Pridefest event from its Pride Week program, the Virgin brand is stepping into the breach and this afternoon from 2 pm there is a plethora of gay and lesbian pride on offer including music, artists and other Pride activity which many lesbian and gay people and GLBT community supporters will really enjoy.

"Pridefest has been a major part of the Gay Pride Week celebration here in New York City," explains Dee McLaughlin, vice president of marketing, Virgin Entertainment Group, North America.

"Since it has been canceled by the city, we have teamed up with Heritage of Pride and are thrilled to open our doors at Virgin Megastore, Union Square to the public and offer a day of live concerts, DJ spinning and special in-store contests and events. We have invited a variety of vendors who support the GLBT community that were originally scheduled to be in attendance at the 8th Avenue Pridefest, so it should be quite the event."

The Virgin brand has been a longtime supporter of lesbian and gay equality and - given the well targeted GLBT market product range on offer there - this is a great example of good LGBT community support by the brand as well as smart gay target marketing.

Pridefest at Virgin today features live in-store performances by The Gay Pimp - Johnny McGovern, Ari Gold, Brian Kent, Ultra Nate, Rafaele Rivera, Sylvia Tosun, Quentin Elias, comedian Cole James, Jennie Arnau, Noa Tylo, Jason Walker, Logo TV's Curl Girls and Rick and Steve, and Bianca Del Rio.

A big Gay Market News hat tip to Virgin Megastore on what should be a great gay Pride event in NYC. Enjoy Pridefest and enjoy NYC Pride.
