There have been various attempts over the years to consider launching gay TV in the UK market - such as the ill fated Faze TV - but this offering looks to have the right pedigree for success.
As Gay Market News reported back in September 2005, Faze gay TV was a stillborn attempt to launch gay TV in the UK market.Now though, Millivres steps up to the challenge with an offering targeting gay men interested in gay themed programming with their new channel Prowler TV. Reader advisory - Prowler TV features adult themed content for a gay male market.
The Prowler TV audience target is quite clearly gay men, and with evening only operating hours it is designed to reach the market when it is most likely to be in the mood for what the channel offers - which is adult gay male sexual entertainment, delivered direct to viewers via Rupert Murdoch's Sky TV.
Announcing the new gay TV offering - in conjunction with Playboy TV UK - Simon Topham, Managing Director of MPG, said the initiative was an exciting one for MPG and for gay men across the UK:
“The expansion into television is an exciting time for MPG and its Prowler brand, enabling a multi-media platform offering for gay and gay curious men meaning the market will have greater and easier access to the Prowler products, values and lifestyles.”
Millivres Prowler is Europe's largest media company.
Prowler TV is carried on the UK Sky platform on channel 945.
