Tonight an important new documentary premieres as the global gay and lesbian community gears up to celebrate one of its most historic events.

Lesbian and gay people enjoy a rich and diverse history.

Out Now always advises clients to never underestimate the diversity that goes to make up what is euphemistically referred to as 'the' gay market.

It may surprise therefore to learn that for most gays and lesbians - whomever they are and wherever they live around the world - one event in history resonates in common with them.

Stonewall.

We have written before at Gay Market News about the importance of the events that took place at The Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York City way back in 1969.

Now from NYC and Company, and Logo gay TV, comes exciting news of a world premiere tonight of a new documentary looking at how those events of forty years ago that formed such a major landmark on the road have given rise to the development of the modern lesbian and gay rights movement.

This documentary, Out In The City, is the first in a series of events taking place all through 2009 commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City.

Directed by George Hickenlooper, the 22-minute Out In The City documentary follows gay and lesbian New Yorkers as they tour Manhattan by bus, commenting on life - and lifestyles - in the City.

If Stonewall teaches the world anything, it must be that the things that unite us all are far stronger than those that divide us.

The City of New York is living proof.

The world starts 2009 in a worried state.

With global economic pressures, Middle East turmoil and climate change - these seem to be worrying times.

But interestingly for us, Out Now starts 2009 in a stronger position than for some years. Our work is increasing.
